I’ve decided that I made a big mistake a few years ago, when I took my blog down from Substack and chose to focus on mainstream social media instead: namely Facebook, Instagram, and X.
Since then, as those platforms continued to devolve and the industry in general became evermore corrupted, I incrementally deleted my accounts on X…then Instagram…and now, finally, Facebook.
I justified keeping Facebook for so long simply because “I have friends there”. But I eventually learned that I rarely see their posts anymore (and best I can determine, they rarely see mine, either). In fact, I rarely see anything I want to see there anymore, having been victimized by the algorithm, which seems to key on the habits, impulses, and the primitive behavior and addictive nature of our reactive brains, rather than our purposeful actions in our striving for independent/critical thinking, intentional living, and continuous education and personal development.
So I recently started the permanent deletion process of my Facebook account, which will conclude in the next few days.
On the other hand, I began to hear more and more about Substack, how it’s different, and how its growing exponentially (now surpassing 50 million active users!) as it offers a platform for thinking people, and isn’t just trying to manipulate its users for the benefit of its advertisers. Plus, it better enables long-form writing (which is the bulk of my work), along with live streaming and podcasting, which I may venture into in the future. And now they also have Notes, their social media feed (*shrugging* so who needs Facebook?), which I look forward to learning to use as my account here develops.
So: I’m now in the process of expanding Lifeology Blog to Substack. However, I don’t plan to duplicate all of the hundreds of articles from here to there; to start, I’ll be bringing the most popular articles over, the “cream of the crop”, and plan to continue in that vein once the Lifeology Blog on Substack is up and functioning, sharing the best of Lifeology over there, not necessarily every single article, post, graphic, video, thought, etc. that goes up here.
And, I’ll likely post some exclusive content on Lifeology Blog on Substack for those subscribers, that may not be included here.
I appreciate your patience as I begin the long-term building process, and I invite everyone to go ahead and sign up to Lifeology Blog on Substack, so you’ll be notified of new content as it arrives. Or, if you’re already following creators on Substack, you might consider adding Lifeology Blog on Substack to your sub list.
And/or, we can also follow/follow each other on my personal profile on Substack and engage via Notes, their social media platform that functions much like Facebook and others.
And if you haven’t already, please consider subscribing to this blog too, which will definitely offer more content than what will be available on Lifeology Blog on Substack, plus you’ll receive a monthly digital (spam-free & AI free) newsletter!
Thanks, and I hope to see you all there!
Cheers,

~ Rand Eastwood
