NOTES/UPDATES:
1. This article was originally published back in 2017, in an earlier version of this blog. It’s been sitting in the archives collecting dust ever since the blog was completely overhauled some years ago, and since my novel PRIMEVAL will be released soon (see below), I decided to take it out, dust it off, and republish it. UPDATE: PRIMEVAL was released on Amazon in September 2025.
2. Since the hosts mention at the outset that I was also a guest on a previous podcast episode, I thought I’d link it here for anyone who may be interested in viewing that one. Also, I was a guest on Danilo Cuellar’s (one of the hosts of SOL) podcast Peaceful Anarchy, which can be viewed here.
3. I mention in the podcast the use of Amazon’s CreateSpace for publishing the physical books, and their Kindle division for the digital version—but Amazon has since merged the two, and it is now called Kindle Direct Publishing or KDP.
4. During the discussion, Andrei and I speak of me potentially guiding him through the publishing process with his own book, when it’s finished; however, sometime after that, he seems to have vanished off of social media, and I believe he went to school (possibly law school?), and we lost contact with each other, so that book project never materialized.
6. Rolling The Bones has since been expanded from approximately 500 pgs to 600+ pgs, as the final story CATS (not the musical) was expanded to a short novel entitled CATS: the number of the beast, so Rolling The Bones now comprises 8 short stories, 3 novellas, and a short novel. And, it is now available in both trade paperback and hardcover on Amazon.
Anyway, here’s the original article:
Shortly after my book Rolling The Bones: 12 Tales of Life, Death, Loss, & Redemption was published, the guys at the Seeds of Liberty Podcast invited me onto their show to discuss it, which is published in its entirety below.
One of the hosts, Andrei Chira, had read the book, and encouraged the others to have me on the show to discuss it. So we had a fairly in-depth discussion of the stories, various elements of my writing style and techniques, the publishing process, etc. Many thanks to Jeremy Henggeler, Dave Painter, and Andrei Chira for having me on, it was a lot of fun! I hope y’all enjoy listening!
Also: Some of the stories in Rolling The Bones are available individually: the novellas The Crossing and award-winning Forever Anna Day, plus the short stories A Sweet Ride and the award-winning The Traveler are all available on Amazon as Kindle singles; and Request Denied, Hell or High Water, and A Bearable Darkness of Being are all available to read on this blog for free, published along with many other stories in the My Fiction section. Visit my Amazon author page to peruse all of my available books (and you can follow the page for notifications of future book releases).
Anyway, here’s the podcast wherein we discuss the individual stories in Rolling The Bones:
UPDATE 9/27/25: PRIMEVAL has now been released on Amazon:
Reminder: For anyone who may be interested, I’ve published more of my fiction, for free reading, under the category My Fiction:
