I the past, when I’ve donated to emergency relieve efforts, I’ve typically given to the American Red Cross. Others too, but primarily them. And, they send me mailers asking for additional donations throughout the year, which I take into consideration, especially if there’s a catastrophe going on, which these days seems more often than not.
However, I’ve also recently heard that the organization has become corrupt, and we shouldn’t donate to them, the money is misused. But my own investigation of this claim has returned mixed results, many saying yes and many saying no, and also that the American Red Cross is a different organization than the International Red Cross, and it’s either one or the other that is having problems…
But since I’ve not been able to definitively determine if these claims are legit, or if so for which organization, I now tend to hesitate, not knowing whether it’s a good idea to donate to them…
But then I recently heard about the Liberty Coalition for Emergency Relief, which was actually founded by liberty advocates, and which Spike Cohen recommended, and so I plan to donate to disaster relief through them now, seeing as they appear to be trustworthy.
From the LCER website:
“Liberty Coalition for Emergency Relief is a grassroots disaster relief organization. LCER—formerly LCDR—was founded in 2017 by liberty advocates across the country in response to Hurricane Harvey in Texas to help fill in the gaps that authorities miss. Since then, LCER has brought aid in numerous emergencies across the East Coast and Southern USA and the Bahamas. LCER provides much needed relief for those who need help during disasters and personal crises. What’s in it for donors? We’re 100% staffed by volunteers. That means 100% of donations go directly to aid.”
LCER is now working to provide emergency relief services to recent hurricane victims:
“In response to Hurricane Helene, LCER volunteer teams are:
-
- Mucking out flooded homes and businesses to minimize water damage and assist with long term rebuilding.
- Securing staging facilities and distributing desperately needed supplies.
- Organizing and guiding local volunteers to be as efficient and effective as possible.
- Providing logistic support for Boots on the Ground volunteers.
- Providing comfort in addition to relief to those impacted by this disaster
- Organizing food and shelter for Boots on the Ground volunteers to keep them from being a strain on the communities they serve.
- Planning long-term relief efforts for communities that will need them for months to come.”
So obviously, LCER is in desperate need of donations to help with their emergency relief efforts, and as mentioned above, 100% of the donations reach the victims, so we can all rest assured that the money is being used effectively and not misused or wasted.
And any donation, of any size, is greatly appreciated!
I personally thank you in advance for helping LCER with their rescue efforts.
Thank you! And please share far & wide!
