The free speech video platform Rumble has ceased their availability in Brazil, due to the Brazilian government’s censorship demands to deplatform certain people they don’t like. Rumble has elected to shut down in Brazil rather than comply with those censorship demands. They did the same in France a year or so ago, for the same reason, and also ignored pressure from the British govt trying to get Rumble to deplatform Russell Brand based on unsubstantiated accusations leveled against him.
In this 7-minute video, Glenn Greenwald—who lives in and broadcasts his show System Update from Brazil, exclusively on Rumble—explains the situation. He also predicts/warns (and I think accurately so) that as we enter the 2024 election cycle, both here in the U.S. and elsewhere around the world, these types of censorship attempts are “going to severely escalate.”
